Maxwell Lemuel Roach (Newland, 10 gennaio 1924 – New York, 16 agosto 2007) è stato un batterista, percussionista e compositore statunitense. È considerato uno dei più importanti esponenti del suo strumento nella storia del jazz.

Maxwell Lemuel “Max” Roach (January 10, 1924 – August 16, 2007) was an American jazz percussionist, drummer, and composer.

A pioneer of bebop, Roach went on to work in many other styles of music, and is generally considered alongside the most important drummers in history.[1][2] He worked with many famous jazz musicians, including Coleman Hawkins, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Charles Mingus, Billy Eckstine, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Clifford Brown, Eric Dolphy and Booker Little.

Roach also led his own groups, and made numerous musical statements relating to the African American civil rights movement.

-Vittorio Domenico Stanislao Gaetano Sorano De Sica (Sora, 7 luglio 1901 – Neuilly-sur-Seine, 13 novembre 1974) è stato un attore, regista e sceneggiatore italiano.

Una delle figure preminenti del cinema italiano e mondiale, è stato inoltre attore di teatro e documentarista. È considerato uno dei padri del Neorealismo e, allo stesso tempo, uno dei più grandi registi ed interpreti della Commedia all’italiana.[1] Insieme a Marcello Mastroianni e Nino Manfredi è poi uno dei rappresentanti della ciociarietà cinematografica e, con in più Gina Lollobrigida, della lazialità non romana.

Four of the films he directed won Academy Awards: Sciuscià and Bicycle Thieves were awarded honorary Oscars, while Ieri, oggi, domani and Il giardino dei Finzi Contini won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Indeed, the great critical success of Sciuscià (the first foreign film to be so recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) and Bicycle Thieves helped establish the permanent Best Foreign Film Oscar. These two films generally are considered part of the canon of classic cinema. Bicycle Thieves was cited by Turner Classic Movies as one of the 15 most influential films in cinema history.

De Sica was also nominated for the 1957 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for playing Major Rinaldi in American director Charles Vidor’s 1957 adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, a movie that was panned by critics and proved a box office flop. De Sica’s acting was considered the highlight of the film.

Il a obtenu quatre Oscar du meilleur film étranger à Hollywood (pour Sciuscià, Le Voleur de bicyclette, Hier, aujourd’hui et demain et Le Jardin des Finzi-Contini), le Grand prix du Festival de Cannes 1951 pour Miracle à Milan (Miracolo a Milano) et l’Ours d’or du Festival de Berlin 1971 pour Le Jardin des Finzi-Contini.

Teatro dell’assurdo è la denominazione di un particolare tipo di opere scritte da alcuni drammaturghi, soprattutto europei, sul finire degli anni ’40, ’50 e ’60. Con lo stesso termine si identifica anche tutto lo stile teatrale nato dall’evoluzione dei loro lavori.

Il termine è stato coniato dal critico Martin Esslin, che ne fece il titolo di una sua pubblicazione del 1961: “The Theatre of the Absurd”. Per Esslin il lavoro di questi autori consiste in una articolazione artistica del concetto filosofico di assurdità dell’esistenza, elaborato dagli autori dell’Esistenzialismo (si vedano le tesi di Jean-Paul Sartre negli anni ’30 e quelle successive di Albert Camus nei romanzi, nel teatro e nella saggistica).

Roland Petit, né le 13 janvier 1924 à Villemomble et mort le 10 juillet 2011 à Genève, est un chorégraphe et danseur français.

 

Zizi Jeanmaire (born 29 April 1924) is a French ballet dancer and widow of renowned dancer and choreographer Roland Petit. She became famous in the 1950s after playing the title role in the ballet Carmen, produced in London in 1949, and went on to appear in several Hollywood films.

Roland Petit (January 13, 1924 – July 10, 2011) was a French ballet company director, choreographer and dancer. He trained at the Paris Opéra Ballet school, and became well known for his creative ballets.

Eduardo De Filippo, noto semplicemente come Eduardo (Napoli, 24 maggio 1900 – Roma, 31 ottobre 1984), è stato un drammaturgo, attore teatrale, attore cinematografico, regista teatrale, regista cinematografico, sceneggiatore e poeta italiano. Fra i massimi esponenti della cultura italiana del Novecento, è stato autore di numerosi drammi teatrali da lui stesso messi in scena e interpretati e, in seguito, tradotti e rappresentati da altri anche all’estero. Per i suoi meriti artistici e i contributi alla cultura, fu nominato senatore a vita dal presidente della Repubblica Sandro Pertini. Fu anche candidato per il premio Nobel per la letteratura
