Grace Patricia Kelly (November 12, 1929 – September 14, 1982) was an American actress who, after marrying Prince Rainier III, became the Princess of Monaco. After embarking on an acting career in 1950, at the age of 20, Kelly appeared in New York City theatrical productions and more than 40 episodes of live drama productions broadcast during the early 1950s Golden Age of Television. In October 1953, she gained stardom from her performance in the film Mogambo. It won her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination in 1954. She had leading roles in five films, including The Country Girl, for which her deglamorized performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Other films include High Noon (1952) with Gary Cooper, Dial M for Murder (1954) with Ray Milland, Rear Window (1954) with James Stewart and To Catch a Thief (1955) with Cary Grant, and High Society (1956) with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.

Kelly retired from acting at the age of 26 to marry Rainier and began her duties in Monaco. They had three children: Caroline, Albert, and Stéphanie. She retained her American roots, maintaining dual U.S. and Monégasque citizenship. She died on September 14, 1982, a day after a stroke caused her to crash her car.

Connie Francis, all’anagrafe Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero (Newark, 12 dicembre 1938), è una cantante statunitense di origini italiane.

È conosciuta soprattutto per i suoi successi Quando quando quando, Who’s Sorry Now?, Where the Boys Are, Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool. Ma il grande lancio avvenne alcuni anni prima, nel 1959, con Stupid Cupid (incisa anche da Neil Sedaka, nello stesso periodo, ma Connie entrò prepotentemente nelle classifiche USA e salì fino al 14º posto, che in dischi venduti significa un paio di milioni), mentre i primi grandi successi in Italia sono rappresentati dalla sua versione di Chitarra Romana, di due anni più tardi, e sempre nel 1961, di Jealous of You, una versione in inglese de Il tango della gelosia. Per dare un’idea del successo di vendita italiano di quest’ultimo, basti pensare che ancora oggi a distanza di oltre 50 anni, è praticamente impossibile non imbattersi in almeno una copia di questo 45 giri ad ogni mercatino dell’antiquariato in piazza.

-Federico Fellini (Rimini, 20 gennaio 1920 – Roma, 31 ottobre 1993) è stato un regista, sceneggiatore, scrittore e fumettista italiano.

È considerato uno dei maggiori registi della storia del cinema. Già vincitore di quattro premi Oscar al miglior film straniero, per la sua attività da cineasta gli è stato conferito nel 1993 l’Oscar alla carriera. Vincitore due volte del Festival di Mosca (1963 e 1987), ha inoltre ricevuto la Palma d’oro al Festival di Cannes nel 1960 e il Leone d’oro alla carriera alla Mostra del Cinema di Venezia nel 1985.

Nell’arco di quasi quarant’anni – da Lo sceicco bianco del 1952 a La voce della luna del 1990 – Fellini ha “ritratto” in decine di lungometraggi una piccola folla di personaggi memorabili. De Sica’s acting was considered the highlight of the film.

È stato uno dei grandi della musica leggera del XX secolo, con oltre duecentocinquanta milioni di dischi venduti (ventuno i dischi d’oro guadagnati in carriera).

Ebbe il periodo di maggior fulgore tra gli anni quaranta e cinquanta.

Tra gli artisti il cui stile ha influenzato Laine, vi sono i cantanti Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong (come trombettista, Billie Holiday, Mildred Bailey, e Nat King Cole. Con quest’ultimo Frank stringe un’amicizia a Lost Angeles proprio quando la carriera di Nat stava iniziando a decollare. – Paul Albert Anka (Ottawa, 30 luglio 1941) è un cantante e compositore canadese naturalizzato statunitense.

Divenne famoso a soli sedici anni nel 1957 con Diana, canzone scritta per un amore non ricambiato (la baby sitter di famiglia, di qualche anno più grande di lui).

Al Festival di Sanremo 1968 cantò La farfalla impazzita, canzone composta da Lucio Battisti. Dopo qualche anno, Anka interruppe la produzione di brani in italiano, ma la sua carriera all’estero proseguì senza sosta, anche come produttore e autore. Da questo punto di vista il suo successo più significativo fu l’adattamento in lingua inglese della canzone Comme d’habitude, già nota in Francia nell’interpretazione di Claude François, che in inglese divenne My Way.

La sua versione sarà ripresa da Frank Sinatra, che la trasformò in un successo planetario, ma il brano sarà pure rivisitato da numerosi artisti, quali Mireille Mathieu, Nina Simone, Elvis Presley, Sid Vicious e Nina Hagen.

Nel 1974 il singolo (You’re) Having My Baby con Odia Coates rimase al primo posto nella Billboard Hot 100 per tre settimane.

Nel 1983 scrisse, assieme a Michael Jackson, la canzone Love Never Felt So Good in cui suonava il piano: tale canzone verrà poi pubblicata solo il 13 maggio 2014 all’interno del secondo album postumo di Michael Jackson Xscape (deluxe edition). Born in New York on April 6, 1927, Mulligan spent his childhood and adolescence in several American cities as his family moved wherever his father’s career as an engineer took them. Mulligan first studied piano at the age of seven, and then began studying clarinet. He studied saxophone with Sam Correnti, who encouraged him to begin arranging. When the family moved to Philadelphia, sixteen-year-old Gerry called on Johnny Warrington, director of the WCAU-CBS radio orchestra, to offer his services.

La meta è Verona dove Maria Callas avrebbe conosciuto il suo futuro marito, Giovanni Battista Meneghini, amante delle opere d’arte e della buona tavola. Li dividevano 37 anni di differenza e la Callas, forse, non amò mai l’uomo che sposerà il 21 aprile 1949.

L’Italia porta fortuna alla soprano. Verona, Milano, Venezia hanno il privilegio di sentire le sue “Gioconda”, “Tristano e Isotta”, “Norma”, “I Puritani”, “Aida”, “I Vespri siciliani”, “Il Trovatore” e così via.
Nascono amicizie importanti, fondamentali per la sua carriera e la sua vita. Antonio Ghiringhelli, sovrintendente della Scala, Wally e Arturo Toscanini. Il celebre maestro d’orchestra rimane stupito e meravigliato dalla voce del grande soprano tanto che avrebbe voluto dirigerla nel “Macbeth”, ma il capolavoro verdiano, purtroppo, non venne allestito alla Scala.
